Welcome to the official website of the International Matchmaking event “Healthy Urban Living”. The event has taken place in Utrecht ,The Netherlands on 9-10 November 2017.

Utrecht region is the 2nd most competitive region of Europe,  where science meets business, where partners meet projects.  University Medical Centre Utrecht together with its regional partners, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and the Enterprise Europe Network  are proud to invite you to the Matchmaking and Brokerage event “Healthy Urban Living”.

Focus of this event is to build international partnerships and set up projects where innovation is driven by novel research ideas.  More specifically, we aim to facilitate participation in EU Horizon 2020 and Eurostars programmes.

Together let us define the future of health. Disruptive technologies pave the way to novel therapies. Innovative E-Health yield solutions for better quality of life in a changing society.  Integrated solutions create a better environment for healthy citizens.  Dynamic ecosystems serve  citizens throughout the entire cycle of life.

Are you interested in setting up an international project with a partner from the Netherlands or other countries? Join us at this event!  The event is open to all potential (Horizon2020 or Eurostars) consortium partners, with special welcome to partners from EU-13 countries.


Project building for research and technology innovation and funding information

We will facilitate meetings with a large community of stakeholders and decision makers including: companies, health centres and research laboratories, investors and regional authorities, program managers, trade associations, clusters, technology parks, incubators, university clinics, etc. This international matchmaking event offers high visibility and opportunities for businesses and networking, creating dedicated fora for dialogue between national and international, public and private stakeholders, by networking research-driven innovation.

This international Matchmaking event has two objectives:

1.    Project building and site visits

An important part of the programme is reserved for the matchmaking of companies and research organisations from the Netherlands and other EU countries. Attendants can look for future partnerships by:

·         taking part in site visits
·         listening to or giving pitches
·         taking part in workshops
·         booking or accepting pre-arranged one-to-one meetings.

Representatives from different science and technology fields are welcome to participate in the programme. On Thursday November 9th you can participate in multiple site-visits planned in the afternoon to various research organisations, higher education organisations, the university medical centre and companies in the Utrecht region. In the evening you are invited to a networking dinner offered to you by the University Medical Center Utrecht. This dinner is for all international guests and invited guests and will be hosted in the City centre of Utrecht. The site-visits and the dinner are free of charge. 

2.    Providing information

On November 10, the National Contact Point  for the Horizon 2020 programme, The Netherlands Enterprise Agency will present the Horizon 2020 Work programmes of 2018-2019 and 2020, with a strong focus on funding opportunities related to the 3 subthemes of this Healthy Urban Living event.  Other funding schemes like Eurostars/ Eureka will also be highlighted. Several Horizon 2020 National contact points of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and representatives of the Dutch national Eurostars office will participate in the event. This gives you the opportunity to learn more about the Horizon 2020, Innovative Medicines Initiative, and Eurostars programmes. In addition, you can discuss your idea in detail with them.

Exhibition and Demonstration

On November 10th, there will be a main exhibition area at the venue for stands demonstrating the latest products and services. Are you interested in becoming an exhibitor? Please make yourself known and send an email with more information to the Event manager at


All attendants are invited to provide a pitch on their research project ideas, technologies or expertise. There are sessions for each of the three themes: Future Health Technologies, Future Healthy Society (healthy living in an inclusive society) and Future Urban Sustainability (sustainable urban environments). If you want to present a pitch please send an e-mail to and you will receive a template for your pitch. There is room for a limited number of pitches per session. The organisation reserves the right to select the pitches per session. You will be informed of your participation.



The workshops will be clustered around 3 main themes: Future Health Technologies, Future Society (healthy living in an inclusive society) and Future Urban Sustainability (sustainable urban environments. Participants are invited to take part in a workshop if they want to discuss future project ideas, explore interests from other stakeholders, as well as to find a common ground for collaboration in EU projects. A fourth workshop will go into detail on the Eurostars programme.
The workshops aim to facilitate consortia establishment for future EU Horizon 2020 or Eurostars projects.

The Site-Visits are clustered in 3 tracks starting from and ending at the Utrecht city center.

Pre-arranged One-on-One Meetings

In face-to-face one-on-one meetings of 20 minutes you will have a chance to establish profitable new cooperation opportunities. Before the event starts you will be able to invite others for meetings on the10th of November and you will receive meeting requests from other participants.

Taking part in this event is free of charge but registration is obligatory. Costs related to travel, accommodation and transportation will be at your own expense.
